Ms Cornelia Stuart

Cornelia Stuart is the HSE DNE Regional Quality and Patient Safety Manager with significant experience in risk, quality and patient safety management having worked at national and regional levels in the HSE. Cornelia graduated as Chartered Physiotherapist in 1982 and worked in clinical practice until 2007 at which point she moved into hospital management. She subsequently worked in community services at a corporate level until her appointment in 2001 as Corporate Risk Manager to the North Eastern Health Board. She completed her Masters in Business Administration in UCD in 2002 and the Kings Fund Top Manager Programme in 2005. As a committed patient safety advocate she supports the development of practical and innovative approaches to ensuring patient safety at the point of service delivery.
She is a Level 3 reviewer with the HSE’s Complaint’s Policy and has considerable experience in the conduct of the review of serious incidents. She has recently developed an action learning based programme for training systems reviewers which is being implemented across the HSE DNE. Cornelia participated on the Department of Health’s Patient Safety Commission Implementation Working Group where she co-led on the National Adverse Event Reporting project. She has recently completed the HSE/RCPI Diploma in Leadership and Quality.
