I am the Director of the National Clinical Programme in Anaesthesia. I was the first person appointed to this post as a joint collaboration between the HSE and the College of Anaesthetists Ireland in January 2012.
I am President of the Section of Anaesthesia, Royal Academy of Medicine, Ireland.
I am a Consultant Anaesthetist in UPMC Beacon Hospital, Dublin. Previously, as a Consultant Anaesthetist in St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, I was one of the Difficult Airway Management Specialists
For over a decade, I have combined clinical practice with a parallel career as a senior management advisor to the healthcare sector. I have a strong track record in successful delivery of innovative solutions to complex, politically sensitive, strategic and change management projects.
My business qualifications include an MBA in Healthcare Management from Smurfit Business School, UC Dublin. I have studied Health Systems in INSEAD, France and am part of their European Health Leadership Forum. I attended the first Managing Health Care Delivery Program in Harvard Business School and am part of their healthcare alumni network.
In 2001, I joined the Healthcare Consulting Practice of Deloitte full-time. It provided me with excellent skills in resource management, project delivery, client engagement, operations management and service redesign.
I am published in both peer-reviewed medical journals and the medical press. I presented nationally and internationally. I adjudicated the Irish Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Awards for the first three year of the completion and was invited to chair the panel in 2006.
My hobbies include running, travelling, skiing, opera, classical music and horse-riding.
