Dr Consilia Walsh

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist based in St Vincent's University Hospital. I am a General Adult Psychiatrist with an inner city catchment area, with additional responsibility for our Day Hospital, Day Centre and community hostels. I work as part of a multidisciplinary team and am fortunate to have a psychologist, occupational therapist, community nurse and social worker on the team.

I was a founder member of the College of Psychiatry of Ireland which was inaugurated in 2009. I was the chairperson of the Steering Committee to set up the College. I was the chair person of the Irish Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists directly before the setting up of the College of Psychiatrists.

I have a long standing interest in Competence Assurance and have been involved with this process for more than 10 years. I have recently completed 4 years as Head of Professional Competence at the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. I have been a member of the PCC of the Medical Council and also a member of the Forum subcommittee on Professional Competence.

I am an examiner for UCD final psychiatry exam and provide clinical placement for medical students. I am a one of the supervisors for psychiatry interns in our department.
