General to Trainee Specialist Division

All doctors who practise in individually numbered identifiable training posts, proposed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and recognised by the Medical Council, are registered in the trainee specialist divison.

Only doctors who are deemed eligible can be registered in this division. Eligible doctors who currently hold general registration, will be transferred to the trainee specialist division on receipt of confirmation of their training post from the HSE.

Eligibility 

1. European Union/ European Economic Area qualified doctors – Eligible to transfer to the trainee specialist division
2. Non-European Union/ European Economic Area qualified doctors – Eligible if they meet the following requirements:

• Have completed an internship in one of the following countries 

AND

• Have passed or been exempted from the Pre-Registration Examination System (PRES)
