Professional Competence Guidelines

All practising doctors entered on the Supervised, General and Specialist divisions of the Register have a legal obligation to maintain their professional competence by enrolling in a professional competence scheme and following requirements set by the Medical Council.  Doctors entered on the Trainee Specialist division of the register satisfy the Medical Council that professional competence is being maintained by pursuit of training in a recognised training post. 

The Medical Council has developed guidelines for doctors outlining requirements and addressing frequently asked questions regarding professional competence.
