Information for Doctors

All doctors who wish to practise medicine in Ireland must register with the Medical Council. It is an offence to practise medicine in Ireland without being registered. The Council oversees medical training, ongoing professional competence, ethics and the Council also deals with complaints against doctors.

This section provides information on examinations, registration, continuing education (professional competence), ethics and, complaints.

The Medical Council's Register consists of four divisions -

• General Division
• Trainee Specialist Division (including Internship Registration)
• Specialist Division
• Visiting EEA Practitioners Division
