Search for a Registered Doctor

You can check here to verify that a doctor is registered to practice medicine in Ireland however this is not a 'search for a doctor' service – the Register shows if a doctor is registered. You can also check a doctor's qualifications through this facility. Doctors can only practice independently as Specialists if they have Specialist registration. By law all doctors have to register with the Medical Council in order to practice.

You can search by last name, first name, or registration number. As doctors may be registered under a different names (e.g. a married name) or spelling (e.g. McCarthy, MacCarthy, Mac Cárthaigh) a record may sometimes not be found. However, a doctor whose details are not found by this search method may still be registered.
