Applying for a new period of Registration
Registration in the Trainee Specialist Division is for:
- Interns completing their internship training
- Medical practitioners who have completed their internship training and are undertaking postgraduate training in recognised training posts.
When an intern is granted internship registration, they receive a Certificate of Registration for one year. If they require a longer a period of registration, they must apply to the Medical Council to renew their registration. For more information please contact the Medical Council by email at registration@mcirl.ie.
When a medical practitioner practices in recognised postgraduate training posts, they must apply once a year. You can apply online by clicking here. Only currently registered doctors can submit an online TSR1 application. You may also apply using the form TSR1
Applying for a new period of Trainee Specialist Registration
- If you have received your Eligibility Letter and have a job offer, you can then apply to be registered in the Trainee Specialist Division of the Register for the first time. You must complete Form TSR1.pdf
- If you wish to apply for a new period of trainee specialist registration you must complete Form TSR1.pdf once a year
- If you wish to apply to voluntarily withdraw from a training post you must complete Form TSR2.pdf
