There may be additional entry requirements for international applicants. This is explained in each medical school’s prospectus, available on their websites. Below is a summary of the requirements for the medical schools in Ireland.
- National University of Ireland, Galway
EU Residents:
- Submit application via CAO, the closing date for 2015 applications is February 1st
- Minimum Points Requirement: 480 points from the same sitting of the Leaving Certificate Examination (or equivalent)
- OD3 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Chemistry, Agricultural Science must be obtained for entry into the six year medical programme. To enter the five year medical programme a HC3 in Chemistry is required (five year medical programme has a limited number of places)
- Aptitude Test Completion of the required Admissions Test (HPAT-Ireland), the closing date for 2015 applications is January 20th
- Minimum A-Level Grades: A*A*A (A-Level) & C (AS) or equivalent combination plus HPAT-Ireland test results
- 720 - the minimum combined CAO and HPAT score in 2014
- Students must satisfy the Garda/Police vetting and Medical Clearance requirements.

EU residents

- For entry into the UCD medical programme passes in six subjects including English, Irish, a third language, Mathematics, one laboratory science subject & one other recognised subject is required. Two of the six subjects must be minimum HC3
- All applicants are required to demonstrate a high level of competence in the English language. Applicants who have not passed English as a subject in the Irish Leaving Certificate Examination must provide evidence of equivalent competence in English language through their school leaving examination or matriculation examination or by achieving the minimum standard in a recognised English language test
Non- EU Residents

- Candidates must hold a minimum 2.1 (second class honours, grade one) result in their first honours bachelor degree (NFQ Level 8).
- For candidates who meet this requirement, GAMSAT (Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admissions Test) will then be used as the sole instrument to select students for the programme. The closing date for GAMSAT registration is February 1st
- Graduates from any discipline may apply. Submit application via CAO, the closing date for 2015 applications is February 1st

- Candidates must hold a minimum 2.1 (second class honours, grade one) result in their first honours bachelor degree (NFQ Level 8).
