Draft Statement of Strategy 2019-2023 - Public Consultation Now Open

The Medical Councils draft Statement of Strategy, to cover the period 2019 – 2023, is now open for public consultation.

This is the third plan since the introduction of the 2007 Medical Practitioners Act and is a progression of the previous 2014 – 2018 strategy.

Central to the development of this plan was a comprehensive review of the previous strategy, the setting of objectives for the forthcoming five-year period and most significantly, engagement with all of the key stakeholders of the Medical Council.

As part of the strategic review process we have updated the Vision, Mission and Values to reflect the focus of the Medical Council in the period 2019 - 2023. The delivery of our remit will be underpinned by these principals.

Following the considerable body of work that has been undertaken, we have arrived at a five-year strategy that is realistic, innovative and ambitious. We believe it will position the Medical Council as a global example of best practice as the body responsible for the regulation of registered medical practitioners in Ireland.

We look forward to working again with all registered medical practitioners and stakeholders in the delivery of the Medical Council’s strategy for the next five years and we encourage you to participate in the consultation on this draft strategy.

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday 22nd January 2019.
