Medical Council Liaison Service

The Medical Council’s Liaison Service launched in July 2026. As this is a new service, it is currently only available to parties involved in complaints that have opened since July 2026.

The Liaison Service is an independent support service for:

  • People who have made a complaint to the Medical Council
  • Doctors who are subject to a complaint

We understand that the complaints process can feel daunting. Our Liaison Team is here to provide general information, in plain English, about the complaints process and what may happen next. They can help explain the complaints process and outline where to go for further information or support.

The Liaison Team are separate to the Complaints process. Engaging with the Liaison Team is voluntary, and speaking with them will not affect the handling, progression or outcome of a complaint.

If you would like to arrange a call with a member of the Liaison Team, please email liaison@mcirl.ie and include your complaint reference number.
