Can I renew my registration without completing the Annual Retention Application Form?
No, your Annual Retention Application is a necessary legal requirement and should be completed before the 30th of June 2021 to enable the processing of your payment.
Where is the Annual Retention Application Form on my account?
The Annual Retention Application Form is available under the Outstanding Tasks section of your online account.
How can I pay the annual registration fee?
You can pay your annual registration fee online with a Credit or Debit Card. Direct debits are no longer being processed by the Medical Council.
Please note that due to the EU revised Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), all online payments within the EEA are now subject to Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). When paying your annual retention fee, you will be directed to a separate page to verify your payment. Please ensure that your cardholder bank has your current mobile phone number and that you have entered this number on the billing page before proceeding to payment. The issuing bank may send the cardholder a once off code to this number for verification.
Do you accept cheques?
Payments can no longer be accepted by cheque. If paying by Euro bank draft, please ensure that the draft is drawn on an Irish Bank. Payments can also be made by postal order.
I have completed the form but want to pay the fee later, where can I do this on my online account?
If you have already completed the Annual Retention Application Form, but have not yet paid the annual registration fee, you can do so through the Outstanding Payments section of your online account.
I have answered all of the questions on the Annual Retention Application Form, but I am unable to submit it
If you have answered all of the questions on the Annual Retention Application Form but you are unable to submit the Form, please check each of the Declaration sections of the form to ensure you have ticked all relevant declaration boxes.
When will I get my annual registration certificate?
As per previous years your annual retention certificate will be issued to you by email within 24 hours of retaining your registration. You, patients, or employers can verify your registration status at any stage on our website here:
